Margaret “Midge” Kirk: General support, Art Wall, & Adult Programs

Midge is a Retired Social Worker with an MA from Goddard College, and a certificate in Heart Centered Counseling from the University of Santa Monica. She was formerly Director of the Four Corners Child Advocacy Center, YA Librarian at the Durango Public Library, and ran a couple of programs at the Montezuma County Public Health Department. She published her first book, They Persisted, in 2017, is currently working on a second book, They Roared, and is thinking about a third.

She loves our patrons, some old friends some new… and the books and the children! They light up her life. She has witnessed so many of them grow up in her time here. She really enjoys assisting patrons and sometimes even recommending a read, or they recommend one to her. She thinks her co-workers are amazing and they make the place feel like “family”. She always feels so fantastic when she can help a patron find something, accomplish something or solve a problem. It makes her heart happy. Generally, she just loves this library and has since 1999.

She also loves almost anything outdoors, her yard and garden, the mountains, the river, her family, her doggies, reading, British films, and writing – not necessarily in that order. She enjoys learning new things, finding new ways to be healthy and sometimes sharing those things.
