This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Build a Better World.”  The Read-A-Thon is designed to encourage our community members, students, businesses, local non-profits, library patrons, and families, to support one another towards the betterment of our community with a focus on children’s literacy.

Students will set a reading goal and ask for sponsors to donate money based on the number of books they read throughout the summer.  Students will donate the money they raise to a local non-profit of their choice.  They have the opportunity to engage with the community in a helpful way and to experience the feeling of ‘paying it forward.’

Library patrons will have the opportunity to sponsor a reader by choosing a reader from our ‘Sponsor Tree’ at the library.

Local businesses have the opportunity to support the Read-A-Thon by donating products or services for a raffle give-away for those who complete their summer reading goal by August 18th.

Families, friends, and community members can offer their support by donating to the fundraising efforts of our summer readers!

Tuesdays in June Computer programming exploration for youth. Instead of just consuming video games, learn how to build your own!  We will be experimenting with different projects using the Scratch programming language.  Pick up a Scratch registration form from the library or print one out here or call Eden at the library (533-7600 x205) so we can set you up with a free Scratch account.  We will be working on library laptops, so space is limited unless you bring your own machine.  Best for ages 9 and up.  1:00-3:00 p.m.
