Tim Kearns and Siste O’Malia will present “The Road to Bali, an Island Paradise. They have made multiple trips to this beautiful island in the Indonesian Archipelago and will share aspects of the island’s topography, people, religion, economy, food, arts and crafts, beautiful and interesting places, and the sheer joy of being there.
WHAT: Creating and using a Facebook account
WHEN: Thursday, May 18, 1-2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Mancos Public Library
WHO: This class is for people who have never created a Facebook account or who have one but would like to learn more about navigating through privacy and other settings.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: The library will provide laptops. In order to create a Facebook account, participants must come prepared with either a cell phone or email address that they can log in to. Those who already have a Facebook account should come prepared with their login information (email or phone number and password).
CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED to 8 people. Participants should RSVP in person at the library or by calling the library, 533-7600.

Deer Hill Expeditions, located near Mancos, is celebrating its 33rd year of bringing together teenagers from around the world to live and work in wilderness and in Native American communities. Deer Hill offers a challenging blend of outdoor living, cross-cultural service, and adventure such as river rafting and backpacking. Beverly and Doug Capelin, founders of Deer Hill and formerly school teachers, will share their vision for Deer Hill and highlights from those 33 years.

Sherry Tingey, owner and lead designer at Alpacka Raft, will speak about the company’s journey from its start-up to its path to Mancos to its recent move to the long-vacant hardware store in town. She will also share some of the design inspiration for the boats.
