Mancos Public Library is proud to present a new technology series entitled “The Mac Series – All About Apple Computers”.  The second workshop in this series is, “Focus on iTunes”; where we’ll be learning about all aspects of iTunes.

Date:  Tuesday, September 27th

Time:  4 pm – 5:30 pm

Place:  MPL Community Meeting Room, 211 West First Street in Mancos.

The Mancos Public Library will host an art class taught by local artist Helen Loomis titled “To Be or Knot to Be”.

Participants in the class will each be given an aspen knot to paint and transform into whatever they desire.  Helen was chosen as one of the Artists in Residence at the Aspen Guard Station for late summer.

The Mancos Public Library will have free “pocket Consitutions”, as well as many books about the creation of the Constitution available for checkout, on Constitution Day, Saturday, September 17th.

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787.

The Mancos Public Library is honored to have Durango author Katherine Leiner at the Library to introduce her new book: Growing Roots: The New Generation of Sustainable Farmers, Chefs and Food Activists.

This book is about a new revolution in food involving people living sustainable lives that revolve around healthy, natural food. The book introduces farmers and beekeepers, fishermen and chefs, food activists and cheese mongers, and many more across the nation. Also included are filmmakers, writers, and artists who are changing the way society eats and looks at food production. There are beautiful color photos and 150 recipes. Library Journal calls it “Inspirational and entertaining reading.”

In this event, author Katherine Leiner will discuss meeting and profiling the diversity of participants in her book as well as to interview local farmers Joan and Peter Brind’Amour from Wintergreen Gardens, and Mary Vozar and Paul Bohmann from Confluence Farm.

The Mancos Public Library Little People storytime starts Wednesday, September 7th, at 11:00am. Children ages 3-6 will be taught songs, verses and stories with the changing of the seasons emphasized. A craft is also offered. Free! For more information please call the Library at 533-7600.
